Our Story

For a long time, I thought I wasn’t good enough—smart enough, outgoing enough, pretty enough, thin enough, interesting enough, or qualified enough to succeed. I made my life decisions based on this self-image, so I kept my head down for fear of failure—afraid that even the smallest stumble would prove it was true, that I really wasn’t enough.

My mind became my prison, and Okurek is my first step toward breaking free. I’m giving myself permission to fail, because “growth happens when you start doing the things you’re not qualified to do.”

— Steven Bartlett

Okurek is starting out as a small line of made-to-order T-shirts, all designed by me here in the Czech Republic.

What’s next? I hope that one day this tiny, squishy Okurek will become something much bigger. I hope she’ll cross paths with inspiring people and, maybe, grow into a brand that can give back in ways I can’t even imagine yet.

And on a personal note, I hope this project will keep proving to me that all the bogeymen and “what ifs” in my head are just my imagination running wild—nowhere near reality.

Values

Authenticity

Perfect? Nope. But it’s 100% me.

Kindness

Progress over perfection. Messing up is part of the fun.

Vulnerability

Feeling awkward? Welcome, I’ll save you a comfy tee.

Joy in the little things

Like catching the scent of clean laundry on a grey day — bright details hiding in everyday life.

Conscientiousness

Doing my best to create in ways I can be proud of — with care for people and the planet — one small step (and Google search) at a time.

One Small Kind
Step at a Time

For me, designing clothes is what a diary or a canvas is for other people—a way to express thoughts and feelings, to say things I can’t always put into words.
My hope is that when you wear Okurek, you feel like I do in my favorite colorful sweatpants, oversized tee, and Footshape trail shoes: relaxed, playful, totally at ease in my own skin—and confident.

I want to design clothes that make people feel good—and I want to feel good about how they’re made.
That’s why I chose a supplier who shares my values: caring for people and the planet, minimizing waste by making each piece only when it’s actually ordered, and paying fair wages to their employees in accordance with the Global Living Wage Standard.

I want to build a community of people who care for each other and for the world we share. As a small first step, I’m committing to donate 1% of Okurek’s annual sales directly to Nevypusť duši and Rare Impact fund—two organizations that raise awareness about mental health and help people find the tools they need to take care of their minds.

Vision

I dream of a world where mental health care is available to all.

A world where softness is allowed, and nobody has to go through it alone.

A world where showing up with kindness is enough.
